Rescued Puppy Update...

Last week we chronicled how my wife found a four week old puppy, in a bag, on the side of a country road. After only four days of care and feeding her appearance has changed to that of what one would hope a young puppy should be.

People That Dump Dogs...

We have all heard the stories, but it's not until you witness it with your own eyes do you begin to feel the heartlessness of some people.
Yesterday, while two women were out for a walk on a country road, they happened upon a red pillow case on the side of the road. The pillow case began to move! Much to the shock of the women, a small animal crawled out from inside. What first appeared to be a cat soon took the form of a tiny puppy! They picked up the puppy and brought her home where she is being properly cared for. A vet check revealed the puppy is four weeks old and is just now beginning to see and walk.
People that dump dogs, for whatever reason, deserve to be euthanized, not their dogs!
   Say hello to Brodie!

1300 Pounds of Fragility

Horses are big, powerful and at times intimidating animals. They are workers, athletes, farmers and friends. To the unassuming, they might be considered invincible and durable animals. Most of the time that could be true but to those that really know horses, know better.
Horses are emotional and fragile animals. Creatures of habit that stress when those habits are changed. Physically complex animals with extremely long intestinal tracts measuring up to 100 feet. All of that intestine can get twisted during the digestive process. Stress, weather changes, diet changes, travel, to mention a few, are all possible causes for horses to colic. Colic is a painful digestive disorder that is one of the most common causes of premature death in the equine world.
The next time you look at a horse consider their fragility. It's something horse owners deal with continuously. Even with the best of care and love, we sometimes lose the battle.

Red Bull Air Races - Texas Motor Speedway

A unique event at Texas Motor Speedway showing why Red Bull is truly the king of extreme sports productions. Timed pylon races within the confines of the race track proved to be very entertaining.

Primates In Captivity, Just a Thought

Even the best of zoos with relatively spacious, lush areas provided for the primates are not enough. Not enough to suppress the deep, long and far away stares off into nowhere you often see from the primates. Zoos are wonderful places of education but at the same time makes you wonder just how happy the animals can possibly be. Just a thought.

Signs of Newburyport

Newburyport, MA is located near the mouth of the Merrimack River which feeds the Atlantic Ocean. A true gem of a Yankee town, deep in typical New England coastal sailing and fishing history.
The center of town has become tourist attraction of many private boutique retail shops. One of the most notable traits of each shop is it's custom signage which hangs outside their door. That they hang in similar fashion may be the only common trait they share, otherwise they are as unique as the business themselves.
Here are a few of what you'll find hanging above the streets of Newburyport.
